Routing is the process of choosing a path between two or more networks.  Routing principles can be used for any network type, including public transportation such as bus/train networks and telephone networks. In packet-switching networks such as the Internet, routing determines which paths IP packets will take to reach their destination. In the topology below, Cambridge is connected to the internet. All three locations (Cambridge and Manchester) are also connected via internet network. Manchester does not have an internet connection because of classified work that is done there.

Clients who want to see traffic on the network can connect to the server using a normal TCP socket. They then request the traffic that is seen in links of the topology. In this case, the topology is 0. The server will accept the request if the traffic has not been sent to another user.

7. A gateway is an electronic device that enables data to be transferred from one network to another.

8. Bandwidth is the maximum data transfer rate across a path.

9. LAN A local-area network (LAN), which connects computers in a certain area, like Schools and Offices, is a type of computer network.
